US stocks slip as oil prices bite

US equity markets registered a decline on Tuesday as investors evaluated September quarter results from leading financial institutions, with a downturn in memory chip equities impacting the technology sector. The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased by 180.45 points, a 0.35% contraction, to 51,670.10. The S&P 500 declined marginally by 0.02% to 7,805.45, while the Nasdaq composite retreated 0.15% to 27,204.38. Banking sector shares experienced downward pressure amid the ongoing third-quarter earnings reporting cycle. WTI Crude oil futures demonstrated a resurgence as short-term lows provided supportive price action for the commodity.
